Well it was very late at night and I was too tired to get across to my dictionary. I usually spell quite well and despair of the on line dictionaries. I did check it out this morning but thanks for the correct spelling Marion.

:pointlaugh: Oh the irony...marion is actually the first name of American film star, John Wayne. He was born Marion Morrison but I guess that was too sissy for a cowboy!
My name is a combination of my mother's eldest sister and second eldest: Mary and Elizabeth. Oops, now you know my middle name. Together, it became: marian :)

Irony fully appreciated, but in Val's defence, Marion is a common girls name in these parts. I have many times substituted the 'o' for 'a' when typing to you as o is my default...

Read mary and elizabeth quickly together and you'll come up with marian elizabeth. You are right though, marion is a common name for a girl here too. I was just being silly.

Actually my ex-ex-ex was named Marion, with an o. However it is long enough ago, 36years, that I no longer shudder when I hear it.

There's a fun cricketing story about the best Australian fast bowler ever being a strapping lass called Lillian Thompson.

Turns out it was a couple of guys, called Thompson and Lillee :D

Oh dear and I have the misfortune to have name very close to your ex x3. I guess it's a good thing I spell it differently. :)

I have used various names over the time I have haunted forums, I was "Humanist" for a long time on the Beeb, but the burden of attack from militant theism on such an obvious handle made it difficult to have sensible debates.

I took a holiday and then returned in a slightly mischievous manner as "Sue Donimm". It was weird that having given myself a female persona I found that I took a different approach to some things - not consciously acting as others might expect a female to do so, but, just different. Unfortunately one of the chaps developed a crush on 'me' and it was not a nice experience to let him down :sad2:

On the whole though Dave is my name and I prefer that to anything pretentious or that I cannot live up to.

His son should be called Dave C.

There are three fundamental questions for anyone advocating Brexit:

1. What, precisely, are the significant and tangible benefits of leaving the EU?
2. What damage to the UK and its citizens is an acceptable price to pay for those benefits?
3. Which ruling of the ECJ is most persuasive of the need to leave its jurisdiction?

Ah, them were the days, when the only real way of telling men and women apart was whether or not they stood up or sat down to . . . Met their like often in the RAF.

Seems the dwarves on the Disc World had similar problems.

My grandma was a strong lass too. She worked on an Arctic whaler. Used to dive in and strangle the whales.....

(Actually, that's not quite true. She was a cashier at Palmiera Stores, Hove-Actually)

Easy...

Loz is an old school nickname, derived from my Swiss surname. 2286 is the cubic capacity of classic 4 cylinder petrol Land Rovers that I enjoy restoring and driving around in. (Bit anoraky I know).
