Sunshine and Lollipops
Sunshine and Lollipops
Now then, as it's Friday - I thought maybe we could talk about *nice* things for a bit?
Such as where we're going on holiday this year perhaps (I'm going to Sharm el Sheikh at the end of August and then a diving week in Tenerife in October since you asked).
Anything exciting or *nice* happening in anyone's lives at the moment?
Are you doing anything special this weekend?
Think of this Thread as a virtual trip to the hairdressers (or barbers - must be PC!)

I had to google Sharm el Sheikh, I'm that ignorant. It looks beautiful.
We're going to a birthday party in Aberdeen this weekend. Doesn't have quite the same allure to it, does it? What's worse - I have to cook a curry to take with us. Whatever happened to good old BYOB?
We had a nice holiday in Sweden earlier this year.

Hi Scogirl! I trust you will also be diving at Sharm el Sheikh too! It has some of the finest diving in the world! The fish and coral are amazing! I went there nearly 30 years ago, when it was technically part of Israel. I went on the back of a truck across the Sinai desert. The coast road had not been built then, and Sharm el Sheikh was pretty much just a row of huts.
I was in Israel 2 months, and had a pretty charmed life. I flew out the day after 2 El Al air-hostesses were shot in London, I was a couple of hundred yards away from a bomb which blew out a shop-front in Tel Aviv, and having visited the tourist info centre by David's Gate in Jerusalem, when I went back the next day, I found it had been blown up! God was obviously saving me for a special purpose!

Maria - I would advise a trip to your local Indian Take-Away, purchase several portions of chosen curry, decant into your pyrex dish (perhaps add a sprinkling of chopped coriander for effect) - et voila!
Nick - I will most certainly be diving in Sharm, we went to the Maldives last August on Honeymoon & it gave me the notion for it!
I've heard the reefs are even more beautiful in the Red Sea than the Maldives, as the Maldivian reefs suffered 'bleaching' as a result of the Tsunami & the water temp rising etc. So while the fish & se life were out of this world, the coral & reefs only had the odd dash of colour.
Perhaps God was saving you to become a Humanist?

We only ever had holidays on remote Scottish Islands, now we live on one so we don't go anywhere.
Tomorrow we will be going to the Noss open day, they have it once a year and the ferries are free that day.

My holiday this year - I am going to Devon on Sunday (and dragging my wife with me) to see/look after my mother for a week and be told off because my hair is too long/short, I should not sit at the table with my arms tightly folded, its time I stopped biting my nails and I drive too fast/slow.
I am 70 next month!

I know how much your missus loves these holidays, jay, and I hope it lives up to both your expectations. (How is she anyway? Still swotting? Give her my love.)
Good grief! How old's your mother then?I am 70 next month!

Well, I ought not to grumble as we went to Canada kast year for our 30th annivesary but with some family problems down south, we seem to be getting a few days together away at odd times. The next few daysa are wheelcahir hunting in NW England.
I hope we might make somewhere sunny later in the year but it deosn't look good so far. perhaps summer happened here on the day I was away!

The times on this forum aren't right yet but I can assure you it's 1 am and I've just come back from a great night out and I am definitely going to come back here and post my holiday plans when I'm sober enough to make some.scogirl wrote:Now then, as it's Friday - I thought maybe we could talk about *nice* things for a bit?
Good weekend everyone Probably see you Monday.
holidays
I'm just back from a city break to Berlin. This is the second time I've been there this year and it really is an amazing city. There is just so much to see. Their transport infrastucture is awesome. You can pay £18.00 for a 4 day pass. This provides unlimited travel on all trains, buses, trams, and subways. Most run during the night too. This time we stayed in the east side of the city, which I thought was more interesting than the west.
My next holiday will be my 2 week summer break to Crete at the end of Aug. A beautiful wee resort called Sissi. A little gem! I just love Greece, but not the commercial side. Sissi is only about 5 miles from Malia, but you'd be forgiven for thinking you were on a different planet. A fairly low key traditional Greek resort. Approx 15 bars/ restaurants. Ideal for snorkelling too, as the village is situated on a very rocky bit of the coastline. A beautiful sandy beach is also within walking distance. Ideal for couples and families. A relaxing chill out base, which I'm really looking forward to.
Changed days from my years of lone parent campsite holidays with my kids.
Life is sweet!

Only kidding ranter, I know what you do (you told me in a previous life, remember?) And very commendable it is.ranter wrote:Alan, I wish.
