LEXOPHILES
Do you know what a "LEXOPHILE" is? Here are some examples. Can you add some more?
You can tune a piano but you can't tuna fish!
To write with a broken pencil is pointless.
When fish are in schools they sometimes take debate.
A thief who stole a calendar got twelve months.
When the smog lifts in Los Angeles U.C.L.A.
The batteries were given out free of charge.
A will is a dead giveaway.
A boiled egg is hard to beat.
When you've seen one shopping center you've seen the mall.
A fellow had his whole left side cut off. He's all right now.
A bicycle can't stand alone; it's two tired.

Yes. It's a lover of words and/or word games. There are a few in the games room (Club Soda):VINDICATOR wrote:Do you know what a "LEXOPHILE" is?

Oh no, not another word game!
Film Title game
Oxymorons
And the best of the lot but, unfortunately, fizzled out: Henny Penny - don't suppose you fancy playing?

Dear Animist,
A great Lexophile right on the ball!
Now here is a very intriguing paragraph. There's something extremely queer about it. If you can solve the enigma in less than 5 minutes then you are on a par with Alan Turing.
Here it is:
"This is an unusual paragraph. I'm curious as to just how quickly you can find out what is so unusual about it. It looks so ordinary and plain that you would think nothing is wrong with it. In fact, nothing is wrong with it! It is highly unusual though.Study it and think about it, but you may not find anything odd. But if you work on it a bit, you might find out. Try to do so without any coaching!"
The first one to solve the enigma gets a Noble (sic) Prize!

Hasn't anyone discovered yet what is so strange about that paragraph I posted here on April 13? I brought up Alan Turing because he was an encription expert, he would have detected it almost immediately. Btw, what is the most common letter found in the English language? There are 34of them here in my text today. I don't think I could write anything without this letter!
Re: LEXOPHILES
ok Vinnie, I am the quickest to reply of your dumb audience: there ain't an "e" in that paragraph - well done! Just goes to show that noticing absence is harder to do than noticing presence!VINDICATOR wrote:Hasn't anyone discovered yet what is so strange about that paragraph I posted here on April 13? BTW, Alan H, thanks for supplying the facility to delete one's own posts

Hi Animist,
Congratulations on breaking the code first. You get a Noble (sic) Prize!
Here is the next Enigma.
Your enemy has cought you and put you in a room with three doors to freedom. however, to escape you have to first go through one of 3 rooms on the other side of the doors.
One room is full of assasins with loaded guns.
Another room is full of raging fires.
The other room is full of tigers who haven't been fed for 3 years.
Which is your choice?

Re: LEXOPHILES
I was trying to relate this puzzle to my other half, who then told me the answer! So I'll try to get someone else to guess it - clue: think carefully about the felidae threat

I'd go through the room of dead tigers.

Re: LEXOPHILES
I'm also reminded of this one
Mahatma Gandhi, as you know, walked barefoot most of the time,
which produced an impressive set of calluses on his feet. He also ate very
little, which made him rather frail and with his odd diet, he suffered
from bad breath.
This made him a "Super calloused fragile mystic hexed by Halitosis"
