How do you count seconds?

Old time photographers in the Wild West used, "Missippi one, Missippi two . . ."

The tune of Nellie the Elephant has a beat of 50 to the minute (if sung in correct tempo), but that's not a lot of help!

Of course the other answer is, "Using the timer/stopwatch function on my mobile."

One second, two seconds, three seconds . . . . works well enough for me.

I find "mississiippi-one" etc to be more reliable :-)

You'll find Mississippi more accurate... [/pedant] :D

There are three fundamental questions for anyone advocating Brexit:

1. What, precisely, are the significant and tangible benefits of leaving the EU?
2. What damage to the UK and its citizens is an acceptable price to pay for those benefits?
3. Which ruling of the ECJ is most persuasive of the need to leave its jurisdiction?

Autocorrect is the 'a bad workman always blames his tools' of the 21st century, isn't it?

Probably is, when I heard it in a film the photographer had a drawl. Never tested it myself. :D

as this is already going off-topic, every time these days that I hear the word "Mississippi" it reminds me of the 1960s civil rights movement joke: "What has four eyes but still can't see?" If you don't know what I am on about, I will explain...but first count out a few dozen "Mississippi"s

Oh, it wasn't autocorrect - just a combination of tiny virtual keyboard and thumbling(*) user incompetence...

Back on topic: I had to do a DAC recently. One of the things it covered was how to count two seconds, i.e. the minimum recommended time-space between two vehicles. Two "2-second" ditties were given:

Only a fool breaks the 2-second rule.

Women drivers are better than men.

* Not a typo.
