It has not been a good day for me, typingwise.
I am doing some instruction sheets for the local U3A on shortcuts, new folders, moving files etc. Bouncing between the desktop for screen shots and the keyboard for the words has had my brain in something of a tizzy. typos all over the place! Well out of practice . . . or just going doollally in my dotage?

The year in which King Ramkhamkaeng creates the Thai alphabet.

With a name like that, I'm surprised he had the courage and perseverence to do so....

1286.
The year King Alexander III of Scotland died in a horse-riding accident leaving no heirs and ultimately leading to the First War of Scottish Independence.
Topical.

It's something in which people get actually killed, sometimes because one person decides that his, or her, ideas of what should be should predominate and has power over others or has others uneducated or greedy enough to follow him/her.

I knew that as well, but it gave me the chance to define something.
Now I find myself in the somewhat ambivalent position, once again, of being a war-hating non-pacifist!

As a student studying in Scotland, I'm keeping my fingers crossed there won't be any war involved in November.

I posted this (v) on the April 1st thread, but it is perfectly true. I have a photo but have forgotten how to post it.

[First thing this morning I looked out of the window at the mallards sitting round our pond. The one female, named Penny, had an egg on
the stone flag beside her. Either she is stupid or what!]

Birds can be like that. A friend's quails used to just dump their eggs wherever they happen to be standing and walk off! A plate of fried quail's eggs is an interesting looking dish!

Added: I wonder if birds can distinguish between fertilised and un- when they drop them? Why bother with an unfertilised egg?

Without the orange? A little lime juice goes well with that though!
