Latest post of the previous page:

My hobby is, and always has been, studying! I can highly recommend http://www.futurelearn.com, a collaboration between the OU and other unis. The six-week online courses are absolutely free and of superb quality. I shall be starting The Discovery of the Higgs Boson in February. Why not join me?

I have a new hobby. I am training as a volunteer presenter with our local Community Radio station, Speysound. I'm at the stage of playing non stop music (Melody FM) for an hour most Thursdays at 1700. Once I can work the desk reliably I will get to talk too. The multitasking involved is a wee bit daunting but I'm getting there.

I'm thinking through a format for a programme that includes music plus outside broadcast recordings of events round the area, from school shows to conferences, talking to old folks on the bus, things that might be interesting.

Hey! Congratulations!

But you must have a DJ/MC/rap name. How about MC Lewy? Or 'Louie T Swagga Jabs'? Don't blame me for that last one: I got it from here!

There are three fundamental questions for anyone advocating Brexit:

1. What, precisely, are the significant and tangible benefits of leaving the EU?
2. What damage to the UK and its citizens is an acceptable price to pay for those benefits?
3. Which ruling of the ECJ is most persuasive of the need to leave its jurisdiction?

I could follow the example of one presenter, Sheila Mackay, our Gaelic music presenter. Her funky dj name is

I've not been cycling for quite a few decades, but I decided to give it a go again and strapped a camera to my helmet...

Further to my previous post about free online courses, coursera.org offers several, and the one I'm doing now, introduction to chemistry, is fantastic!

Mad, simply mad!

I notice, that with all those dangers to life and limb from the hard corners of the walls to the sudden drop offs on the sides etc. that they padded the power line posts! Why bother - more worried about the posts than the riders? :D

THIS

has inspired me to take up skydiving, at the age of 65!
I'm currently building up the physical fitness (and the money) to do an AFF course.

Should be ready around late April!

Yup, great admirer of Danny MacAskill... :laughter:

Still prefer his "Inspired Bicycles" one from a few years ago (filmed in and around Edinburgh, I think), before he got his Red Bull contract.

I can recommend Duolingo to anyone wanting to learn a new language. It is absolutely free, and an excellent way to learn. Many languages offered, including some unusual ones! http://www.duolingo.com

+1 for Duolingo - learning Spanish with it at the moment, in preparation for a visit to Ronda & Grenada later this year...

I hope you have Google's Translate app on your phone? Translates text on the camera (signs, menus, etc) instantaneously and gives virtually instantaneous two-way voice translation.

Thanks, I'll have a look at that. We used iTranslate a few years back - a bit iffy at times with the local colloquiialisms, and thi sphone came with something called STranslate, that doesn't look any better.
