Which TV personality annoys you most?

Most of them. I find it hard to single any out but the one is the Julia something who prevents me from watching Countryfile. She really is appalling.

Here in Florida, during the summer, I would seek air conditioning!

Yes, at the end of April we go to Devon to help about 60 people celebrate my Mum's hundredth birthday. I would guess I will have had enough of this world before 2037 comes round. She says she has!



How would you like to celebrate your hundredth?

I would like a family party with all the gang, grandchildren, great grandchildren, a few cases of Cloudy Bay Pelorus, a few sides of baked salmon, salad, strawberries and cream, and also, on another day, a canoe trip down the Spey.

Do you plan to take in any of the Olympics this summer? Maybe just watch on the telly?

None whatsoever.
Mind you, I have a nephew who's shaping up to be a very good trampolinist, so maybe next Olympics I'll have a motive for watching.
Have you ever discovered an interest in a sport completely against your expectations?

Not really, but the nearest answer would be greyhound racing. I've been to a couple of charity dog racing evenings (one hosted by Stephen Fry, IIRC) and had a much better evening than I was expecting.


If you wanted to raise money for charity, what challenge would you like to do? Either because it is easy, or because it would indeed be a memorable challenge for you.

I don't get many UK ones, having signed up for the phone preference service. But if they call asking for me I generally apologise that Madam is currently unavailable but I could book them an appointment... One asked if they could talk to the previous owner (deceased) I told them they would have to be celestially connected, and topped it with a sad sniff

I do have respect for the phone bank folk who are making their living, and hopefully am never rude. Many moons ago I worked for Edinburgh Uni cold calling folk evenings and Saturday mornings about health issues. One section was on HIV/AIDS awareness, in the sad days when young folk were dying and society was shunning them. I had some wonderful conversations through that if I'd managed to get them talking...

I once had to manage a team all working in telemarketing and got to see what a horrible soul-destroying job it really was. Do firms really still need to do this?
Sorry, that was rhetorical, my real next question is - What band would you fork out £100 for to see live?

Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars. Saw them in the 70s at Greens Playhouse (before it became the Apollo) in Glasgow. Ah! Memories. My friend jumped on his car bonnet as he drove away after the show. It ended rather embarrassingly as the convent girl looked in the window and was met with a dispproving glare. She mouthed "sorry" and jumped off.

I don't think any band is worth that much money, but it's been a while since I went to a concert and the prices surely have gone up.
Well, maybe Yes or Steely Dan if they were still playing. And of course, the Stones!

I did see the Bee Gees in Tampa when they had changed gears and just come out with their disco album, "Main Course". That goes back a ways!
