Only kidding ranter, I know what you do (you told me in a previous life, remember?) And very commendable it is.

I went to a birthday party in Aberdeen. It was outdoors (well, in an open outhouse beautifully decked out for a party) and the food, drink and company was all fabulous.

But it was FREEZING!

At about 10.30pm I went into the main house to grab my jacket and found the central heating was on full blast - in July! I decided to stay there.

Why would anyone choose to live on the North East coast if they didn't have to???

Edited because I've just double checked and think it may be too early for celebration but basically it was a story about how the Inland Revenue had been chasing me for money. A few weeks ago I got a letter saying they owed me money and this morning I got a cheque.

I have just helped a client recover over £5,000 in Bank charges from NatWest Bank!!! :happyclappy: With a single letter!!!! Had I been sitting on a chair, I'd have fallen off it!

Grrrr! Too early to celebrate. I've just checked the figures and previous correspondence and they've sent too much. I don't mind about the money, I just want it to be over with and it isn't. I've now got to write to them again.

Well...did you pick some new wheels at the weekend? Tell us about it...twin carbs? Go-faster stripes? Low-profile tyres? Alloys?

My son and Husband have been working off and on in Mt. Shasta, California. It's very beautiful there. This pic was taken last August (Me and Theresa, the grandddaughter) We went back this last May and will probably make one more trip this fall. We are hoping to make it back into the Mallard-Larkins wilderness sometime this summer. We live in a pretty cool place. No exotic locations for us.

It looks pretty exotic from where I'm sitting, Goldie.

Not exotic...unless you find new-age hippy-types exotic. They are into crystals and auras and rays of sunlight and the "life of the mountain." It is considered a "holy place" by all of the flakes. People take jugs to drink from the head-waters. They think it is healing.
I think it is very pretty and fun on a hot day.
It is an odd place where dreadlocks meet Prada... where dirt-poor hippys who live in busses hang with the Nuvo-Riche.
They have lots of scenery and great places to eat...and micro-breweries! I like to visit...but it would be to "spacy" to live there!

My little girl is just back in the UK after a month incommunicado in the mountains of Morocco. Yay!

She'll be in Glasgow just for a day on Monday - my son, too.

Alan I will be flying to Ireland for the weekend tomorrow morning (Friday) for the Humanist School at Carlingford. I don't know if we'll get online while we're away. If not, have a great weekend and I'll see you Sunday night.

England beat Russia - yay!

But the real reason I've bumped this thread is to announce that we're off to Amsterdam tomorrow morning (Thursday) - back Monday afternoon. Expect to check in daily but might be too stoned to post.

Everytime I see this thread....a voice starts singing in my head...
"Sunshine and lollypops and rainbows and teddy bears.
Puppy dogs and kitty cats and fuzzy critters everywhere."

It's silly...but I can't help it.
