Nation Shout Out

#1 Post by Project Atlas » March 2nd, 2011, 9:41 pm

So I am curious about where everybody is from on here. I see many people are from the UK. I saw one person from Canada. So please don't be shy.

I am from Los Angeles, California, USA.

( so if any of my spelling looks off, please understand Lol)

I come from Leeds, Yorkshire, in the UK but I now live in Burghead in North East Scotland on the beautiful Moray firth.

At least two of our T.H.'ers are from Canada.

I was born in Cheshire during the war, brought up in south east London (until I joined the RAF in 1961) but now live in Gloucester.

I grew up in the Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire (almost in Wales) so have traversed England in the opposite direction from Dave. I've only been to the US once - to Cleveland

We do have other US posters here, PA, check out under folks' avatars...

I've been to the east coast of the US quite a few times, as my brother is a US citizen, living and working in the Catskills.

Mine too, living in NC and working in lots of places, wherever there is someone who will hire him and his expensive skills. I have visited a few times and sailed with him out to the Outer Banks as well as skiing in Utah, a visit to New York and a glorious summer visit to New England. I like the USA.

I live in Scotland, in beautiful Badenoch, on the other side of the Grampian Mountains from Fia.

We have talked about it but we really should have an American meetup.

Oh Canada my home and native land!

I live in Calgary, Alberta, in western Canada about a 45 minute drive from the Rocky Mountains.

Perhaps a meet-up could be organized through the American Humanists or the Canadian Humanists! I would be game for that.

I wouldn't do that - it'll be rather busy!
Has anyone been to the U.S. ?
We were married in Key West and I've been there on business a few times.

There are three fundamental questions for anyone advocating Brexit:

1. What, precisely, are the significant and tangible benefits of leaving the EU?
2. What damage to the UK and its citizens is an acceptable price to pay for those benefits?
3. Which ruling of the ECJ is most persuasive of the need to leave its jurisdiction?

I'm from Toronto Canada. I've been to many states, including California. Monteray is the farthest south I've been. Let's see: Nevada, South Dakota, Idaho, Colorado, Arizona, Wyoming, Texas, New Mexico (twice), all New England states, NY, Michigan. I think I will stop right there. What I'd really love to do is tour both the US and Canada on a motorcycle. Maybe someday.

Just been an item on the radio where four British nurses ended up visiting every US state - in a '59 Ford V8, with antlers on its bonnet!

Countryfile featured the River Medway this week and my barge gets a nano-second on telly :D (look out for the 2 red lightships: I'm next to them) and you can see the view from my deck over towards St Mary's Island and Upnor. Funnily enough, the clips of the river are out of sequence, and what perports to be a continuous trip actually flits inexplicably up and down the river over several miles :laughter:

Born in North Wales, living in Yorkshire. Spent three months in New Jersey in the winter of 1947/48, visiting my mother's sister and their parents, who had all emigrated. Flew out on TWA, sailed back on the Qheen Elizabeth.

My sister lives in San Diego, has her own business there. Visit http://www.auraexploration.com. I visit her all the time ..... on Skype!
Which I also use to keep in touch with my best mate who emigrated to Melbourne, my stepson in Tipperary, and my stepdaughter in Lansing. Not to mention my other best mate, half a nile away!

I live in the beautiful spa town of Harrogate, and count myself lucky, (though poor).

Born in Liverpool, which is only technically English. Mother's ancestors are 100% Irish. In reality, Scouse is a nation/tribe unto itself. For the past 4 years have mostly been living in Cardiff, Wales, but am in the process of buying a boat on the Clyde, so will likely be a temporary Scot fairly soon.
