Any Potter fans here?

#1 Post by Moose » July 8th, 2007, 6:10 pm

I've been a huge fan of Harry Potter for a few years and am really looking forward to the last book - though am less enthusiastic about the release of the new film; will see it eventually I guess. Does anyone want to discuss the books or put foward theories for the last one? Anyone going to be getting it as soon as it comes out? *grins hopefully*.

Perhaps if you phrased the question 'Has anyone ever attempted to read a Harry Potter?' you might have got more response. 'Fraid the answer from me is still 'no'.

Sorry.

I got to about book 3 & then never found the time again to read any more.

I also totally lost track with the films too.

Think I need to start at the beginning again!

They are really good books though!

Oh well that's one sort of fan :D. Less than two weeks now till the final book comes out. I am not quite sad enough to go down at midnight but I expect I'll be up pretty early and hitting the bookstore. Or the supermarket, more likely.

LOL Tesco usually sells them for about six quid each which is less than half retail price. Must be hard on the independents I guess.

Hi Moose.

Got mine ordered already and will probably have to get two copies (like I did with Goblet of Fire) because my dratted son had the temerity to take it away on holiday with him so I couldn't read it.

Still holding to the theory that Snape is Dumbledore's double agent and can't be on the baddies side......

I'm really looking forward to the film coming out too because:

1. The actors are really growing into their parts (almost unrecognisable from TPS)

2. Order of the Pheonix was actually my favourite book (on the second read) because it is so DARK

3. Helen Bonham Carter is playing Belatrix Lestrange which I think will be great

4. Gary Oldman must be in this one a bit more which is fab.

C'mon Harry!!

Hi Moose

I've read all of the last one, and exactly half of all the others. Before they could read for themselves, my wife and I used to take turns reading to the kids at bedtime; so I've ended up having read only the odd-numbered chapters. The last one I read while recovering from my heart attack. I was feeling rather sorry for myself, which is my excuse for being in floods of tears when Dumbledore died.

I was really shocked when Dumbledore died .. I genuinely hadn't seen it coming. I read till the end of the book hoping that it was going to be a mistake or something but alas it wasn't. I was fairly cross with Rowling at the time.

Not sure if Snape is good or bad. It might be a double bluff and he might really be bad :(

I was passing a bookstore yesterday and they had a copy of the final book in the window! Unless it was just book six with the book seven cover on it. I was tempted to do a smash n grab :D

I've read a couple of Harry Potters and enjoyed them. I've also read the Bartimaeus Trilogy by Jonathan Stroud which is sort of Harry Potterish, but the wizards are not the good guys.
