Reasons to be cheerful

#1 Post by Dave B » May 20th, 2017, 6:45 pm

Team work!

There is a big step, for people challenged in the leg length department, out of the street door at the bottom of our shared stairs. Andy, my neighbour, has longer legs but hip trouble. I had thought about building a wooden step outside but . . .

Andy is a partly disabled ex-builder and he asked about his "friend" doing the job - £60 + materials. Then he said he could do it himself with help. So I drove us to pick up the materials (£20), knocked up (seems that is the technical term :) )the mortar, Andy did the brick and slab laying and I cleaned up.

Both satisfied with the job, £60 saved and a safer entrance and exit! Reckon I have earned my weekly vino ration tonight.

There are three fundamental questions for anyone advocating Brexit:

1. What, precisely, are the significant and tangible benefits of leaving the EU?
2. What damage to the UK and its citizens is an acceptable price to pay for those benefits?
3. Which ruling of the ECJ is most persuasive of the need to leave its jurisdiction?

At least if you need any work done on your engine or bodywork, it'll be free (well, for the time being, depending on what happens next Thursday).

I asked a parts shop if I could have a gas cap for Kia. She said, "sounds like a fair trade".

Doesn't bullet proofing the Pope mobile imply any lack of religious faith?

Excellent, Steve, thanks for that. Very interesting and entertaining - I'd not heard of several of them, but I don't think I'll be losing any sleep over them!
