Just thought you might be amused, or have your thoughts provoked, by this....

Hmmm, thought provoking, yes. But this is from an evidently educated man in a country that is, if a bit haltingly, dragging itself up by its bootlaces. What of the remote villagers struggling to survive in climate change and constant (it seems from the news) fighting?

But then, why just Christmas? If help it to be supplied it must be for the whole of the year, or those seasonal surges in charity must be used to build long term resources - that is the only thing that will achieve anything worthy of the future.

Excellent. In a slightly different vein, a friend posted this on his FB page:
Please accept with no obligation, implied or explicit, my best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low-stress, non-addictive, gender-neutral celebration of the summer/winter solstice holiday, practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of the religious persuasion of your choice, or secular practices of your choice, with respect for the religious/secular persuasion and/or traditions of others, or their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions at all. I also wish you a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling and medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally accepted calendar year 2012 , but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures whose contributions to society have helped form their great nations. Not to imply that these countries are necessarily greater than any other country in the world. Also, this wish is made without regard to the race, creed, colour, age, physical ability, religious faith or sexual preference of the wishee.

To Everyone Else... A Very Merry Christmas & A Happy New Year!
Steve
