Alan, I had a vey tough day and today won't be any better. I'm up for the challenge anyway!
I saw this on a another forum, and knowing that you were a dog lover who lived in Shetland, I could be forgiven for thinking there couldn't be 2 slockenins. But there you go. Namesake as well as a dug that looks like yours!

I feel the same but I just couldn't think of a name I felt comfortable with. In the other place I used my initials plus year of birth but wanted to leave those behind in the other place so decided to use the name I've always been called - Jem - combined with Mac, which is the start of my surname.

As for Saint Nick, I've already been there, got the tonsure.
I'm trying to figure out whether he means "employing" or "implying".

On the subject of this thread, mine's avtually in my name, would you believe? It is also some initials, of course.

At the time I joined the other place I was involved in a band called Firebrand. This name wasn't chosen by me but I really like it and feel that I sometimes live up to it.

Pretty cool name! Oh no - but it isn't is it. But you know what I mean. Cool in the spiritual sense, not the literal!

Actually, God, Godot, Godsox etc, everything with "God" in, are not nearly as "original" as you might think, in view of my actual name, which of course Maria knows from my email address.

I have a thing for yellow gold jewelry and gemstones... a collection/hobby of my own making. But, now that's usually what people give my as gifts...so my collection grows... (and appreciates in value. I buy a lot at auctions)

Plus... I have gold highlights in my hair and I love the color because it makes me think of the sun.

I had visions of you as our Goldie the Eagle You can be so wrong about people  It was a big news story here at the time. A year before we won the world cup, we've talked about nothing else since  (the world cup I mean, not the Eagle)

lol...Too funny! :laughter:

I've seen golden eagles...but we have more bald eagles where I live... So...I would have been "Baldy" .... uh....but I have such a thick head of hair...that wouldn't work.
I was never into jewelry until my granddaughter was born...and because my parents died when I was so young...they didn't pass down much. I wanted to be able to pass something down to my Theresa...something that she could remember her Nana wearing... So, I bought a Mandarin Garnet and diamond ring set in 18k gold...at auction. Garnet is her January birthstone and are native to our state... but the mandarine garnet is bright orange and firey...the color of her hair... I bought it for 1/10th of its appraised value... and she already knows that it will be hers. It's my Theresa ring.
I SO adore her!

I have seen MollyMac at the HH but not often.
If you went to the HH you would find entire threads dedicated to "Bumpy" my red-headed, 5 yr old grandbaby!

No...I got the God willing part...but why couldn't or wouldn't you raise kids in England?
(or am I being too nosey?)

Don't see why. I went very bald at a very early age. Years ago the landlord of a pub I used to frequent in deepest Cumbria noticed this and gave me the nickbane "Curly". Robin Hood's pal Little John was very tall. So why not "Baldy" for someone with loads of hair?

Knowing who Molly Mac is, as I do , you should be flattered, Goldie! She'll doubtless let you know herself.

PS I still can't get over you being a grandmother! It's bad enough that policemen look so young, without grannies getting in on the act!

Good point...I know a great, big fellow named "Tiny."

No, I am MollyMac - thought you knew.

On the first internet forum I signed up to back in 2001 (about teaching EFL) I didn't really think about being anonymous and used MariaMacl. On my second one (iidb) I decided to be a bit more anonymous and used MollyMac, after my pet rabbit. Then I got really adventurous and signed up in one place as Fatuous Sunbeam (from Wilfred Owen's poem - nothing to do with our Sunbeam/Moonbeam). I use a different name again on my poker forums and yet another one on my ADHD forum - I'm keeping them secret.

At the HSS Board, I felt obligated to use my real name and have carried it on here because that's how everyone at the other place knows me.
