All this beauty only a short while after a visitor to our village,Burghead, Moray, told me that the Northern Lights could not be seen this far south. I could not be bothered to argue with him. Nor did I tell him where the King Eider was to be seen!

My mother saw the Northern lights in Cumbria (Cumberland as was) In the 1950s.

In those days they probably put it down to god having a party

I have tried my new furry lined snow boots on and have dug the rubber/spikes stretch-on crampons from out of the cupboard.

But the forecast is for 6oC tomorrow so they will go back in again soon!

Edit: I must have missed heard the forecast for the South East, looks like you are in for some white stuff - must have been "developing into rain later", or summat.

I have taken to wearing my running shoes (trainers for you folk). Snow lasted one day, rain another and now it's mild, relatively speaking.

Do you have make room for your boots with the cups?

No cups in that cupboard, m'dear; tools, vacuum cleaner, stationery, batteries, steps, bulbs, brooms, software and all sorts of odds and sods - was the airing cupboard with the electric water heater in it before I went gas. In a glorified bedsitter (even with an attic) one has to make sensible use of every cubic inch (especially when you have as much junk useful kit as I do!)

Neither term is really appropriate for footwear rarely used for running or training... :laughter:

There are three fundamental questions for anyone advocating Brexit:

1. What, precisely, are the significant and tangible benefits of leaving the EU?
2. What damage to the UK and its citizens is an acceptable price to pay for those benefits?
3. Which ruling of the ECJ is most persuasive of the need to leave its jurisdiction?

I should say: I have taken to wearing my shoes wot one might wear if they ran or trained. Seems like a mouthful. :laughter:

Wow....great video. We see numerous hail storms every summer here. I have had roof shingles and siding replaced twice due to hail damage. The most costly storms here, however, have been those that cut a very wide swath through the city but not necessarily with the largest stones. When I have a chance I will upload a picture I took of stones that hit my home a couple of years back.

Oo, nasty. When I was in the RAF in Cyprus there was a storm of large marble sized hail stones, incredible, an inch of ice on the ground in about five minutes! Bloody painful for anyone caught out in it as well.

Ahhhhh. It worked. We have had larger stones but not while I was at home. One friend has a picture of a hailstone the size of a tennis ball. We needed new siding and roofing after that storm. (We were in Nova Scotia at the time and missed the excitement.)

Pleassssssssssssssssssssssssse take some!

It seems to have rained here, continually, since last April (when we had a nice weekend. We had no summer to speak of).

I HATE the weather here. I can completely understand why so many Scots emigrate to Aiustralia (though, for the life of me, I can't get my head round why they would emigrate from here to New Zealand's South Island).

Strange weather tonight. Chilly and foggy. I can scarcely see the other side of the river. More like late October than March. Oo-err! Have I missed summer?
