Jovo's.

#1 Post by snaggletooth » January 20th, 2009, 11:18 am

I've just upset a couple of jehovah's witnesses at the door. All I did was ask if it was a religious thing they wanted to talk about, when they told me it was, I showed them the book I was reading (How to be a good Atheist - Nick Harding). One of them said " but you don't believe it do you?". Obvious answer - "of course not, that's why I'm reading this!".
They didn't look to happy at leaving themselves wide open to that one! :D

I'm jealous. Sometimes I feel I must the only person in the world that has never had a JW knock on my door. Last time I was at my brother's place he stood there arguing with them for about ten minutes. He wiped the floor with them but it was obvious they just couldn't get past the fact that he was an atheist. They looked totally bewildered about why he would willing choose to go to Hell.

I quite agree Diane! And what a waste of a JW just to slam the door in their faces! In a previous existence, when for some reason I lived in a thing called a 'house', I had several visits from them. I was always hoping that they would ask "Have you found God?", so that I could reply "Why? Have you lost him?"

When they knocked I'd invite them in, sit them down, offer them a cup of tea and begin....! I'd ask them if they were wearing mixed fabrics, whether the love they had for their spouse was in fact lust, and should they therefore put their eyes out? Why fictitious pygmies in Borneo were being damned to hell because they knew nothing of God. On being told that they were probably OK, I would ask why they had told me about God, since presumably I was OK too before being told of him, and my everlasting damnation was thanks purely to their having given me the opportunity to reject him. Oh the fun I had!! On one occasion I even had a second knock at the door from more JW's, very concerned that they seemed to have lost 2 of their fellow door-knockers..... who were in fact seated, somewhat uncomfortably, on my sofa. It reminded me of this Python sketch...:laughter:
