Wearing hijab during jury service

#1 Post by kbell » July 25th, 2007, 11:42 am

I wasn't sure where to post this so please move it to wherever you think.

Did everyone read the story about the Muslim juror who listened to music on headphones when she was supposed to be listening to a murder trial? (The story was circulated on Alan's MediaScan).

Is this not a case for forbidding the hijab in public buildings?

As I've said before, if crash helmets have to be removed before going into banks, building societies, Post offices etc, then the same should apply to Muslim head coverings, it's a security issue.

What's the betting she gets off with a caution?

I dunno, it's considered pretty serious to jeopardise a trial .. she's likely to get a short jail term I would think.
