Humanist marriages

#1 Post by Alan H » December 8th, 2016, 10:43 am

Calls grow to legalise humanist ceremonies
Calls are growing on Government to give humanist weddings legal recognition in England and Wales as new findings suggest that humanist ceremonies are more popular than ever before. Almost 15 million people in Britain (30%) have attended a humanist ceremony and close to seven million (14%) want a humanist funeral for themselves when they die. These new findings from YouGov come as the British Humanist Association (BHA) launches a new animation voiced by Stephen Fry bringing to life what non-religious ceremonies can mean to people.

There are three fundamental questions for anyone advocating Brexit:

1. What, precisely, are the significant and tangible benefits of leaving the EU?
2. What damage to the UK and its citizens is an acceptable price to pay for those benefits?
3. Which ruling of the ECJ is most persuasive of the need to leave its jurisdiction?

Here it is - -

the knot that ties us all

and now the world’s diminished by a jot,
a brief set down, a loss not gain
at this untying of the knot.

sun and moon, the stars, the lot,
a breath of wind, the cooling rain,
and now the world’s diminished by a jot.

the scent of freesia or forget-me-not,
a woodland path, a country lane,
and this untying of the knot

that binds us to this earthy spot
that we’ll not see again.
and now the world’s diminished by a jot,

and now we ask not where, not what,
and yes, we suffer pain
at this untying of the knot.

always in our minds and not forgot,
and life goes on as usual in the main,
but with this untying of the knot.
our world’s diminished by a lot
