thanks, Tet! I stupidly was thinking of "There Will Never Be Another You", despite my dear old parents' fondness for The Seekers! This new one is a bit more uptodate in some ways.

Big yellow taxi, and I do hope that your toe is better. BTW, a li is a Chinese mile, and is very useful in Scrabble
still avian and not far from my Mingus one a while ago, but more igoric and in fact gory (the clue that is); alternatively, for the last word, a nocturnal storm

is the name of the PM part of the answer? Trying to eliminate some of them: Cameron, Brown, Blair, Major, Thatcher, Callaghan, Wilson, Heath, Home, Macmillan, Eden, Churchill... I could go on of course

Yes but it was a very unfair clue. It's not a surname but a shortened version of what used to be a common given name. I think it's gone out of fashion since this person was PM. The aerodymic ability is mentioned a lot in the song but not in the title.

um, assuming that the PM was on my list, then the only such name which comes to mind is - "Hal"? - or I suppose "Peg"? and it can't be either of these. Ah, "Meg"?

No help at all, since I've never heard of them (& I don't like using google until I have a solution I want to check).
Is the fruit "mango"? (Because, if so, I'm really struggling to get a bird from
aegmnu)

ah, the "bird" was the musician, Charlie Parker. It is "mango" for the fruit, but the word with which you struggle has no meaning for me either, so just see what Celia Cruz recorded

or consider that the second word is a conjugation of the Spanish verb for "pinch"
