I would rather not be quite that insomniac Alan. Waking at 4am is enough for me, and I will not get out of bed just to say, "Mornin'," here. Especially now the mornings are getting a might chilly for us soft southerners!

What constitutes 'chilly', if I may ask?

For me? Anything that means I need to put a jumper on.
Spoiler:
I do actually like this time - it means I don't have to iron so many shirts 'cos no-one can see the creases under the jumper :D .

PS: I changed from my light summer duvet to my heavy winter one last night - the cooling nights were giving me twinges in me 'ips. Only trub is the top half gets too warm. Hmm, shall I cut the duvets in half and sew a thin one to a thick one so I can have a warm bottom and a cool top . . .

Hmm. Maybe I should find a winter duvet. I must have one somewhere; or I could buy one. That could be quite nice. Hmm.

I understand about the shirts, Dave. You can also wear them longer in winter. There's a song, The Stern Old Bachelor. It has a verse that goes:

I go to bed whenever I please
And get up just the same
I change my socks three times a year
With no one to complain

Carpe diem. Savour every moment.

When I took funerals, I only ironed the front of my shirt and made sure not to take my suit jacket off. It became a sort of ritual with me thinking that it (life and death ?) was all show anyway.

Your search is over. I have solved the issue of ironing your shirts. Check out this website: http://www.marksandspencer.com/Ultimate ... b/59548031

If all else fails, you could join these guys and at least make your ironing more fun:

Thanks for the ad, Marian. There used to be "drip dry non-iron" shirts back in the 60s - made from "BryNylon" that made you sweat buckets in warm weather or on the dance floor. Yech, they were terrible!

Extreme Ironing - a sport for real men!

Where do they plug the iron in? Surely there's no point in going to all the faff and not actually doing any mind-numbingly tedious ironing?

Not that I'd know. I don't. Iron that is
