Do you BOINC?

#1 Post by Tom Rees » September 18th, 2007, 9:57 am

The "Humanists of the World" team on BOINC is currently languishing at 1084 by total credit (slightly better by recent credit). But there's only 8 of us! We can do better than this :happyclappy:

If you're a BOINCer, then either join the "Humanists of the World" team on your project or, if there isn't one, create it! That way you'll show up in the global stats.

And if you've tried BOINC before but got rid of it, then try it again. The new client software allows much more control over processor time and RAM usage, to stop it interfering with your other work. I've tweaked it down on mine so it's not so resource-hungry.

And if you've never tried BOINC, then give it a go. It's a distributed computing project which runs in the background on your computer and uses the spare clock cycles to solve a whole range of computation-intensive problems - from good causes to good science to just plain interesting (number theory, physics, epidemiology, etc). You get to choose your project(s).

I'm not surprised. He thinks he's got no mates as no-one is turning up. That's enough to make anyone feel down. :exit:

Well, we're up to number 1059 in the rankings  But no new members  And the Dawkins Foundation has come in with a rocket at number 772 :cross:

Come on folks if you have computer on for a large chunk of the day then... well it's for a good cause and it won't hurt (probably - can't guarantee that...)
