I don't see a need for Humanist Aid to be honest. IMHO, Oxfam and Wateraid do fantastic jobs and I'm happy to support both of them.

having said that I don't understand why the religious feel the need to have their own aid agencies - why can't they just support secular aid agencies?

Richard,

I've just joined the West Glamorgan Humanist Group in Swansea. As far as I know your leaflet hasn't been discussed. I'll bring it up at the next meeting on 12 August.

I've just received my membership pack and was pleased to see a bookmark in there. I'm frequently lending and borrowing books and was thinking of using http://www.bookcrossing.com.

I've asked for more bookmarks to place in books i lend out and return.

It's a start

Ah. I see now. Funnily enough, I was wondering if the BHA had, or should have a federal structure, to reflect the differences in the constituent nations of the UK. I'm still trying to find out exactly what the post-devolution differences are between England and Wales. I know there are some - eg the ...

Maria, I think i found this forum from the BHA discussion forum, but the thread you link to doesn't look familiar. Maybe I'm just losing my memory. Is the Humanist Society of Scotland part of the BHA or a completely separate organisation? If it's separate, how can the BHA be the British Humanist Ass...

HSS

I've seen references to the HSS here. At first I thought it was typo of NSS, but it's been repeated so often that I think that can't be the case. Can somebody please enlighten me as to what it is?

Thanks.

i need to cut down my drinking and am beginning to think that cutting it out altogether is the only option. I have plenty of will power, it's WON'T power that I lack :( Anyway, I voted for real ale - that is my downfall. I like scrumpy and red wine, but I'm not fussy about the latter. I've just come...

Here are a couple of links that may be useful. I think at least one of them has been mentioned earlier, but i thought it worth repeating; 1. NHS Organ Donor Register - http://www.uktransplant.org.uk/ukt/how_to_become_a_donor/how_to_become_a_donor.jsp 2. Anthony Nolan Bone Marrow Trust - http://www.a...

The quiz feels a little biased though. Seems to be a rip off of the politcal compass (I'm an extremist on that too :laughter: )

I can just as easily call myself an Atheist versus a Bright, as there is no difference in the meaning - ie. Atheist means to not believe in the supernatural and therefore implicity means that I must believe in the 'natural'. Bright means to not beliieve in the supernatural and explicitly states a b...
