Re: The Future of the 'The future of the..(if any)' title-me
I did consider starting one called "The Future of Prostitution (if any)", but chickened out for fear of offending people Only the unoriginal title would have offended me, Animist. Though some may be offended by my observation that the title would be unoriginal. But this is a discussion site, that i...

Re: The future of Government (if any)
As I understand it, the new law would mean that we don't have to subscribe to the ludicrous notion that women men should pretend that statistically, they live as long as women, or that women are as bad a driver, and hence as accident-prone, as men. Such notions are patently absurd, but have come un...

Re: The future of Government (if any)
So what are we to make of the idea of balanced budgets? As the Labour Party has recommended both yes and no within a couple of weeks, it's hard to tell...... :sad2: The Labour Party is going through a period of debate and change. Personally, I find this refreshing and hopeful. The media and the Wes...

Re: The future of education (if any)
I attended 2 1/2 years of Comprehensive school, and 1 year of seminary (in effect a Catholic public school). The Comp was streamed. Each year was divided into (IIRC) twelve classes, with the top three classes being called, quite blatantly, the 'grammar stream'. I was in the top class of the 'grammar...

Re: The Speakeasy
Oh! So that's what "Christmas" is all about - sheep! ... Naah. The combined wisdom of the Wellington Christian clergy makes abundantly clear that Crimbo is about shopping. Performed by sheep. It's not about the actual sheep. Religion, Crapitalism. It's all one. You just have to keep believing. And ...

Re: The Speakeasy
[Thunderous applause!] After thunderous applause dies down: I am sorely in need of at least one pint of Doombar please. My brain is broken, having just read (six times) the following, from our local ecumenical churches' group, writing in the Wellington Town magazine. "Thinking towards Christmas, we ...

It strikes me as a very beautiful world, with some very beautiful people in it. Plus a small group of small-minded selfish psychopathic bastards who usually end up with all the power.

There needs to be a 'leftie p-lot' to show people vjust how clever Boris Johnson is. He's a cunning nasty piece of work with a jolly prankster, harmless buffoon persona.

Re: Labour leadership election
It's called democracy. A political group goes door to door asking folk what they think. The folk reply, politely or otherwise. Some active members of the political group get a better idea of what people actually think of them and their policies.
Roll with it.
Roll with it.
