Re: Many avowed believers don't believe

I think people at the top of the political tree don't believe it for one minute. However, I think they have a vested interest in keeping all the religious BS in vogue and relevant. For one thing, it continually serves to subjugate woman on a massive scale, and they will therefore never have true acc...

Re: Cinema

I would say 6-7, but I am a bit of a lightweight when it comes to creepy films. I suppose that’s why I like horror films so much, I like the rush of being scared, although I have found myself frequently disappointed by supposedly scary films. For example, I thought the Blair Witch Project was awful ...

Re: Cinema

Just back from seeing The Orphanage. I really enjoyed it. Don't want to say too much about it but if you like good old-fashioned creepy films like The Innocents and The Haunting (the original, not the Liam Neeson turkey), then you will probably enjoy this.

Re: Cinema

Thinking about going to see The Orphanage tomorrow. Anyone seen it? It's been ages since I have seen a really good chiller. This one is getting really good reviews, but I always end up expecting too much when this happens.

Interesting. Yeh, I think I will stick to main page from now on. The contributions seem a lot more civilised.

Does anyone ever post on the RichardDawkins.net forum?

Reason I ask, I have posted a few times on some debates that were annoying me a little bit. For example, there was one on "Chivalry" about why women expect men to open doors for them!!!???? Another talking about why Asian people are bad drivers!!!!????. I must stress that these were not initially wh...

Re: Do you/could you have a religious partner?

I picked the third option. I always like to think of myself as being very open-minded and liberal when it comes to other peoples beliefs, but I don't think, in reality, that I could have a relationship with a religious person(moderate or otherwise). We would probably just argue all the time. My part...

Re: God Hates the World!

Yes. I saw the Louis Theroux documentary and I also saw the Keith Allan one. What amazed me was how intelligent and articulate some of the young women seemed yet they continued to buy into all that bullshit.

Re: Moral panics

I honestly don’t know how religionists get through their life mentally intact, as they seem to endure moral panics everyday. The nut job religion channels on sky illustrate this point very well. Almost every single programme has a Pastor/Preacher advocating that all good Christians should try to "sa...

A potential xmas No. 1? Not bad for psychotic hate-mongerers. They can certainly carry a tune and would give old Sir Cliff a run for his money.

I'd have the Fair Trade dark as an appetiser, then the white with marzipan as a main then i'd dive into the chocolate fountain in Thornton's for dessert!

Re: As Humanists, do you celebrate the festive season?

I am hoping that this Xmas, I will be sober enough to watch Dr Who and remember it. The past two Xmas specials, I've had to watch repeats of to understand what was happening. _________________ Fred Dr Who will be the highlight of my christmas. Can't wait to see it!!!!! Its been my experience in the past when I've told certain people I am a vegetarian they become all defensive, as if I am accusing THEM of something. I think secretly some people do feel a bit guilty about it l and I presume that is why they react in this way. I mean you actually get looks of disgust...

Yes, that’s my view on meat also, but in the past I have felt pressure from some people in my family and friends regarding this. That’s why I think I would cave in and provide an alternative. The more I think about it, I'm probably being quite weak about it and have just bitten my tongue for a quiet...
