Re: GM and the Greens
Monsanto and several US companies -especially chemical, oil and pharma, are extremely powerful lobbyists with the US and EU establishment. It is very difficult to distinguish genuine -or not- press articles. Cynically speaking: rather than their power we have to dread their counterparts, i.e. their ...

Re: Good video links
The Friendly Atheist posted this today. I like it. It speaks volumes of good sense and it made me smile. Thanks! I see that people have the same thoughts irrespective of their Country's policy. Alas, some countries (theocracies) try to imbue one single policy into their nationals, generating androi...

...and mind, how do Catholics reconcile "inclusion and regard" with the fact to have named saints as protectors of wars (Saint Barbara patron saint of armourers, artillerymen, military engineers).

Re: Dawkins and Hitchins planning to arrest the Pope!
Years on. the pope now is Francisco. Not sure if last news (yesterday) has already reached you. New declaration: "the woman is no more a tempter inducing into sin" ...."as it was a woman who gave birth to Jesus...". However, I have a problem to grasp the "epiphany": wasn't Jesus conceived by the sai...

Re: GM and the Greens
I wrote "copyrighted" when I should have said "patented". Re,: "Considering the amount of time, money and effort that it takes to create a plant through traditional methods that has the traits and qualities that the breeder desires, it makes sense to protect the investment through a patent". My posi...

Can anyone explain why the fruit that I buy at supermarkets today, be it apple, peer, peach.....taste all the same (i.e. light pumpkin taste)? I could as well buy the cheapest ....given the "equated" taste!

The statement from the Scottish Government: GM crop ban I firmly believe that GM policy in Scotland should be guided by what's best for our economy Not science, then? Alan, let me say that "health" should come in prominence. Besides, I don't like the fact that often semences are "copyrighted" and u...

Re: GM and the Greens
I'd be happy enough with a situation where traditional foods with a long track record of safety were exempted from testing, where foods known to be poisonous were banned, and where novel foods required safety assessments. I don't think I'd complain either if novel foods which contained genetically ...

Re: GM and the Greens
Dear friends, I have swiftly read your entries (extremely busy these days) about this topic and I feel to express the following thought/opinion: 1- we should start with a premise that "natural food" in the meaning of food presented to us by nature and natural selection needs no testing for the simpl...

"They cannot kill all of us" To perpetrate this savagery I suspect the shooter (or the organization) must have gained info from a source; Twitter? Fb? Public event news? What I fear is that this sort of organizations may produce intelligence (names of people to be hit) just snooping through social ...
