Re: Aunty in Peril (again!)

I must be very gullible, I do not see all this BBC bias. I suppose it has always leaned towards the status quo/establishment but I find it no more biased than other tv news. I worry greatly when political parties call out the BBC; all they are trying to do is blame their failings on a tv channel and...

NHS to begin denying people hearing aids for first time The NHS will start denying people with hearing problems access to hearing aids for the first time from Thursday in a controversial move that critics claim will worsen sufferers’ social isolation. The GP-led NHS clinical commissioning group in ...

Re: Volkswagen's Diesel Cheating Catastrophe

Lewis, does the tax on your car depend on its CO2 output? If so does this scandal affect the official CO2 rating for VW diesels or is it only the NOx? If you have been paying a lower rate of tax due to a lie I hope the government don't ask for the balance! Later: seems it is the NOx that is critica...

Similar to Animist this was a tragic event but I do wonder, "Is Allah on holiday?"
We've had the Mecca crane crash, the Mecca crush disaster and a London mosque burnt down. Sleeping on job if you ask me.

I'm warming to Jeremy Corbyn; anyone who refuses to bow /kneel to Queen or sing the National Anthem has to be applauded.

Re: Labour leadership election

I think the Tories are playing into Corbyn's hands. They are painting him as a total useless danger to the UK.
All he has to do is be less of a threat than they are saying and he is a roaring success.

Re: The future of Government (if any)

It's interesting when a Tory comes out against Government proposals: David Davis attacks 'Franco-style' sections of Tories' trade union bill Are union rights really to liberal?? Didn't Thatcher address this? If employers (I'm looking at you, TfL) treated workers with respect, fairly and stuck to th...

I have a lot of time for Lawrence Krauss, he speaks sense and again in this case he is spot on.

I have a friend who contends that we started on this slippery slope when Sikhs were allowed to wear turbans instead of crash helmets on motorcycles.

Re: The future of Government (if any)

Maybe I'm being naïve, but surely it can't be difficult to price the works so that you are not successful. So if the contract is worth (say) £100m, you price it at £150m - then await the "Thank you for tendering unfortunately in this case..." letter. The ethical issue is wtf were they doin...
