Re: Save the BBC!
Whoever is in Government wants to control the BBC, the Tories do it by threatening and culling; Labour by calling its reporting into question. (The Hutton Enquiry and Alistair Campbell) I find it amazing that the BBC is right wing when the Labour Party is in control and left wing when the Tories are...

Re: The future of Government (if any)
Isn't that their plan, eliminate the poor from the south east? Oh, wait a minute.... who will serve at my club, take my empty bottles and other rubbish away, service my Chelsea tractor, clean my hotel room, iron my shirts, do my garden....??? If people want such services, then they will just have t...

Re: The future of the NHS (if any)
Complete bollox, of course. Ever heard of crying wolf? How do you envisage it happening Nick? What are the benefits that I, a 60-year old male who for the previous 59-years has hardly bothered the NHS, can look forward to as my health inevitably starts to decline? Will I get credited for my previou...

Re: The future of Government (if any)
Lower benefit caps 'will exclude poor families from large parts of England' Unemployed families will not be able to afford to live in large parts of England as the government’s benefit cap plans threaten at least 100,000 households with homelessness and poverty, research finds. Isn't that their pla...

Re: The future of Government (if any)
" You idiot. You naive, foolish, irresponsible nincompoop," Blair wrote of himself in his autobiography "A Journey" last year, recalling his adoption of the [Freedom of Information] law, which took effect in 2005. "There is really no description of stupidity, no matter how vivid, that is adequate. ...

Re: The future of Government (if any)
Bastards! Utter, detestable bastards! But life on a salary of just £1,731 is so dreadfully, dreadfully difficult... £1,731 a week, that is: Tory minister says £90,000 salary left him "counting the pennies" Do they wind people up on purpose, is it a bit "Loads of money" sort of attitude or are they ...

Re: GM and the Greens
The problem is, "What is GM food?"
The banana has been genetically modified, so is every banana marked as GM?
Most well know apples are modified, potatoes, etc, etc.

Re: GM and the Greens
I've not trawled back through the thread but I've probably already said this... What is the definition of a Genetically Modified crop/plant whatever? My grandfather and father used to have a small market garden, back in the 60s/70s they were selling F1 Hybrid tomato plants. Were they a GM plant? I s...

Re: The future of Government (if any)
Well, Altfish, perhaps you could explain why your question began with "Then..." That seems to mean that it relates to some previous post, but, as I suggested, I don't see the progression. Secondly, your question is a "have you stopped beating your wife" sort of question anyway. I suggested why the ...

No, you're not cruel at all. I love dogs but badly controlled ones are a nuisance.

Re: The future of Government (if any)
I cannot see how targeting 'hard working people' on low wages is good policy? If they did not have a job and more importantly were avoiding work there is some logic in the policy (I don't necessarily agree but..) They claim they want to make people work, but surely this policy will make people think...
