Re: Pedantic fun with religious texts
Psalm 139 1 O LORD, you have searched me and you know me. 2 You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. 3 You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. Sounds as if he even watches me when I'm on the loo with my knickers down. What a perv...

Re: The MMR controversy
Maria, :notworthy: nice job. I'd read a lot of the story in Michael Fitzpatrick's book, which I thoroughly recommend, but you've given a nice concise summary. Well done! What I really don't get is why all those people still support this guy. They accuse Paul Offit of just being motivated by money an...

So it seems that Wakefield is an even bigger scoundrel than we thought and actually falsified data. He should be in prison. I've found a site that gives a round up of lots of different blog posts and articles about it after it appeared in the Sunday Times yesterday. http://lizditz.typepad.com/i_spea...

Wow, Alan, that's some story! No wonder you forgot to ask a question! (Unless you meant the question about exams in 1966 to be it - I think the answer is 'GCE O' Levels').

Re: Funky Flags
I'm afraid both your choices would give me a migraine, Diane. I find it impossible to put aside politics and just judge flags on their aesthetic appeal. They have an amazing ability to stir emotion both positive and negative. No doubt that's why the Cyprus and the Greece flags make me feel a bit bri...

I 'm sure it is, Firebrand, but my problem with it is that it's got Nicole Kidman in it and I've gone right off her after enduring a dozen times too many what I consider to be the worst advert in the history of TV: the one advertising Channel No. 5 featuring the very same Nicole Kidman. I HATE it! ...

Re: What do you do with all those unwanted pressies?
I see nothing wrong in passing on unwanted gifts. I rarely get things I really dislike or wouldn't use but when I do I have no hesitation in trying to either find a happier home for it amongst family and friends or donating it to a charity shop. That website sounds sensible. I've seen other forums f...
