Re: Interview the person below you.

Fia I am soooo jealous. My dream was always to go trekking on Skye. My great-great-grandmother was from Skye My summer plans are very simple this year (as usual). I will drive into the mountains to hike and picnic, enjoy the Calgary Stampede parade and free breakfasts, go down to the Stampede ground...

Re: Interview the person below you.

Sissies, all. I have camped near RV folks who never once came out of the thing. Many keep their bloody power generator going day and night. God forbid they could not watch TV and do the laundry. Why don't they just stay in a hotel and order room service? It appears I could be answering the "What pis...

Re: Dawkins: giving atheism a bad name?

As a side note: I am the "other" parent to a 7 yr old boy. Like most children, he loves stories and make believe. So, to get around the Christmas story, I am gradually, over the years, telling him the story of the baby Jesus that accompanies Christmas but always point out that this is a story. I try...

Re: The ages of man (and woman of course!)

Dave When a friend had an operation on her foot and lower leg, she rented a device that was a bit like a scooter. It had wheels and a "seat" for her to kneel on with injured leg and she pushed it around the house. There was quite a bit of support there for the sore leg - it did not dangle. She found...

Re: The ages of man (and woman of course!)

Geesh, Dave. There is nothing like sore feet to make life miserable. Hopefully this too shall pass. Of course, it has been my experience that something new and wonderful will take its place.

Glad you solved the driving problem. Take care of yourself and rest that sore foot.

Re: Atomic Structures and Isotopes

Dave: The first editions were written well before rap; but, I have to admit the cadence lends itself readily to a rap rhythm. Glad you enjoyed it. Compassionist: Joe wrote many poems but most are for specific situations - a retirement, a 40th birthday, one totally disrespectful ordination poem, and ...

Re: Fun videos

Dave, it is my understanding that one is not supposed to own a crystal capable of transmitting an AM signal. I am pretty sure it was AM not FM. When my friend helped me clean out the junk I recall him asking "What is he doing with a transmitting crystal?" That and many other similar questions.

Atomic Structures and Isotopes

I mentioned a poem my late husband wrote to give an overview of "Atomic Structures and Isotopes". Dave has encouraged me to post it. It is attached, I hope, as a pdf file. The poem was presented as a lecture at his high school, Bishop Carroll. This was an individual study high school with no formal ...

Re: Fun videos

simply - a crystal used to transmit a radio signal on a given frequency. Here is a quick lesson as I am no expert. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crystal_oscillator I have the poem in Word and pdf files. I will check it out for accuracy. I had to scan it and my old Word '97 made quite a mess of it. Ea...

Re: Fun videos

Dave. I know. I know. I was married to a geek. He owned a broadcasting crystal and from time to time you would see him headed out for a walk with a wee radio...to listen to his station. As University students, we once wired an MG with a speaker and spoke to anyone who passed it from our hiding spot ...
