Re: The future of Government (if any)

I'm afraid I don't understand how it was possible for Theresa May to begin the process of calling for an election on 8th June 2017. In 2010, as part of the coalition agreement, parliament passed an Act called the Fixed Term Parliament Act, which stated that any elected government would run for preci...

Re: LEXOPHILES

I'm also reminded of this one Mahatma Gandhi, as you know, walked barefoot most of the time, which produced an impressive set of calluses on his feet. He also ate very little, which made him rather frail and with his odd diet, he suffered from bad breath. This made him a "Super calloused fragil...

Re: The future of Government (if any)

Can't see any posts on here about Diane Abbott's hilarious abortive attempts to get her facts right on a radio programme last week. Has it all become rather one-sided whilst I've been away? where's Nick?

Re: I'm baaa-ack.

Nice to see you back Dave, and glad that you're feeling fitter. I too, am back. My time on Google plus has come to an end. It was a great 4 years but now there's nothing left of the once great G+ other than idiots, spammers and time wasters. All the wise people have left, so I guess that's probably ...

Re: Talk to Yourself

I am reorganising the order of diagnostic questions in our Entry Level 3 English (functional skills) book, as we have decided that there are too many initial questions. Could life get any more exciting?

I have sent a text to David Milliband over in the States. All will be sorted when he gets back to these shores.

Re: In or out?

I was impressed by Theresa May's speech. Let's hope she can successfully deliver some of the liberal strategies that she outlined. She seems a "safe pair of hands" in these troubled brexit times.
I'd rather have her running the country than Jeremy Corbyn.

Re: In or out?

Clear as mud to me - sounds like the guy who posted the "Poisoned Chalice" comment about Boris in the Guardian knew what he was talking about! I have a solution. David Miliband returns from America. He stands as a candidate in the Batley and Spen by election. Once elected (unopposed) he th...

Re: In or out?

I have just read the last 20 or so posts on this thread - after finally getting my voice back after the unexpected shock of the last 72 hours. I agree totally with the opinions voiced by my friends. colleagues and others here. And I realise one big, unalterable thing. We humanists may not be united ...

Re: In or out?

The problem for me (and the average British voter) is that the issues are far too complex for anyone to be able to make an 'informed' decision. I've watched Question Time for the last three weeks, and now I have even more questions than I did before I started watching! Added to this we have the unhe...

Re: 2015 UK General Election

We have the creme of the crap in charge. Hobson's choice. I agree wholeheartedly Dave. Twas a poor choice indeed that we were offered in the last election. Perhaps Russell Brand will come good in time for the next one and form his own political party. Maybe then, we'll have better choices. However ...
