Re: What's your favourite hymn?

I can't help but like the melody of Amazing Grace.

Technically not a "hymn," but I absolutely love Parry's setting of Blake's "Jerusalem."

Kedrov's Russian setting of the Lord's Prayer is sublime.

The one you hear all over the place. Hoppipolla. One of my favourites by them. The video is wonderful too... Shostakovich's tenth symphony & eight quartet = AWESOME. The tenth is my favorite. The version I have by Ormandy and the Philadelphia Orchestra (on vinyl) is the best, IMO. That was the firs...

Re: "Outrage as vicar urges women to submit to husbands"

Despite the anger and offence caused, Oden stood by his comments. "I did not set out to unnecessarily offend people, but I stand by what God has said in his word, the Bible," he said. Even though I disagree with his views, he is actually quite correct that this is in the Bible. He is simply trying ...

Re: Religion As An Obstacle To Intergration

Actually you're not that far off, the Matrix has a lot of references to the Bible. Not only do we have the whole storyline about the messiah coming to save everyone, but also the character Trinity, the prophecies about The One, Morpheus (Egyptian god of dreams, presumably representing the Exodus), ...

Re: Stop ANTICHRIST from Coming to Your Neighborhood

Here's a trailer and here's the imdb page and here are a bunch of reviews. I don't like horror films so I'll give it a miss. As it's just a film and apparently nothing to do with religion, I'm moving it to Culture. Maybe we can have a nice discussion about censorship and why religionists want to te...

It was only a couple months after Bush was in office that he was already expressing plenty animosity against the UN anyway, and wanted to pull out any US money going to the UN, like a good little Republican (the evil One World Government, all that nonsense). France aside, Bush would've gone with the...

An earthquake is an earthquake is an earthquake.

It is not a moral judgement.

It is not a sign of the end of the universe.

It is not an "act of God."

An earthquake is an earthquake.

Hello, By Dr. Ted Baehr, Publisher of MOVIEGUIDE writes: "Coming to your local theater October 23 is a movie that I can only call the most horrific movie ever seen. It's called ANTICHRIST, and it's filled with a wicked worldview, vile pornographic scenes, onscreen mutilation of private parts, and s...
