Re: Pope approves of condoms

Wait.

One minute he says that condoms don't prevent the spread of HIV, now he's changed his mind?

Re: Tuition fees increasing

On the one hand, the riots were immature and unnecessary http://s.wsj.net/public/resources/images/OB-KU736_millba_G_20101110112134.jpg On the other hand, as someone who's going into university in the year the fees go up, there is no way that I can see a bunch of angry students smashing loads of Tory...

Re: Draw Mohammed Day

^ I agree, it's startingto get a bit dodgy with people focusing more on offending than freedom of speech. Some people even say Islam should be banned to preserve free speech. :headbang:

Draw Mohammed Day

Some people have created a Facebook group called "Everybody draw Mohammed day" in defense of freedom of speech and in protest of the self-censorship that's been happening in the West recently (see: South Park). Here's the group: http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Everybody-draw-muhammed-day-May-20th-b...

Is Secular Humanism a Religion?

Sorry if there's already a topic like this, I did a search but the words "religion", "secular" and "humanism" aren't exactly uncommon on this forum :P This is an interesting question. I personally thnk not because the very definition of "secular" is non-religious. The main problem is defining "relig...

Re: Anonymous poll for UK voters

I'm too young to vote but if I could I'd go for theLiberal Democrats. At first I was a bit dubious about some of the things they stand for, namely amnesty for illegal immigrants and not renewing Trident. But after thinking about it for a bit they make sense, and they want to change the voting system...

Re: Brian Cox's hair

Is he really 42? He's doing pretty well for his age.

I saw his program and I didn't notice his hair because I was too busy focusing on his smile. He smiles all the time and it's quite scary.

Re: Atheist morals are irrational?

Hm, I can see why they might but I'm just debating with some Catholics ATM and...Well, I'm usless at debating xD Is this an on-line debate? ...'cause ISTM that they're useless at debating, too, if they're coming up with morals and eugenics as debating points against atheists, and it'd be kind of fu...

Thanks for the help guys :) On a similar topic, I'm told that there's no rational reason for atheists not to support eugenics...I think this is ridiculous but what do you think? Hi there! Call me a suspicious bastard if you like, but both your OP in this thread and your latest post reek of troll. N...

Atheist morals are irrational?

I was arguing with some Catholics and one of them made an interesting point: atheists make desicions based on what is rational, but having morals is sometimes not rational. For example, if there is someone stopping you from becoming king, then how is it rational not to kill them and become king? I'm...

Re: Useful or thought provoking quotes

I think I could turn and live with animals. They are so placid and self-contained. They do not lie awake in the dark and weep for their sins. They do not make me sick discussing their duty to God. Not one of them kneels to another or to his own kind that lived thousands of years ago. Not one of the...
