Re: Consultation on statutory regulation of AltMed
Hello Alan, I'll be reading this doc very carefully and with much interest as a frustrated 'insider' and will be sending in my comments as an individual after considerable thought, attempted cirrhosis, chocolate overload and much hair-tearing. Am also happy to join in debate here and look forward to...

Re: Advertising Standards Authority
Hello Alan I did write 'CAM' and 'respected' in same sentence didn't I? Pardon! And I wrote 'CAM profession'. Good grief! I've got some work to do (which I keep putting off) and then I am going to look at those links you put up. Thanks for making that effort to put them up (for m...

Re: Advertising Standards Authority
Hi Maria & Alan Pardon - was out much of yesterday Thanks for your polite responses. Not what I am used to when I offer an opinion or challenge anything in CAM. My ‘surprise’ when reading Alan’s ASA complaint was wondering why turn attention on osteopathy when there are so many whacky things out the...

Re: Advertising Standards Authority
Hello Alan Your post about this osteopath made me feel me very uncomfortable indeed. Infact I am upset and annoyed about it. What next dermatology? Do you think this is maybe turning into a bit of a witch hunt? I do. Aren't you possibly using the ASA the same way as the BCA are using our flawed libe...

Re: Drs want to pray for patients........
Hestia - I had similar 'religious experience' in hospital but mine was with extremely annoying lady chaplaincy visitors. I was irritated that I was put in the position of asking them to leave me alone. They should not have been allowed to bother me in the first place. I get very touchy when someone ...

Re: Unbelievable - Singh case
Alan Following your (and DC's) blog with great interest and awe at the efforts you are putting in. Bloody well done. Having this kind of skeptic/critical-thinking spotlight shone into these therapies makes a massive difference not only for patients taken in by the BS some therapists spout, but for t...

Re: Protection of the title of Doctor
I agree that title 'Dr.' should be protected in the sense it should not be used by CAM therapists as it could mislead patients. Medical herbalists (which is also not a protected title - yet) with a PhD, i.e not medical Drs, are not (under the codes of conduct for the main professional associations) ...

Re: Unbelievable - Singh case
Hello Alan I've just returned from yet another jaunt which kept me away from le web. But: caught up with Neal's Yard fiasco; signed Simon's petition and encouraged all colleagues to do same (sadly some CAM colleagues are coming back to me saying they will not sign 'cos if law changed it would be ter...

Hi Alan I've been away on hols so just catching up with threads - esp. with the BCA saga Wondered what we can do as individuals to make a difference and hassle this along abit - like complaining to ASA when we find chiropractors using the title Dr (such as http://www.hampsteadchiropractic.co.uk/whow...

I am loving The House on the Strand! I am as addicted as Dick was to the drug. Only half way through though. A couple more days should do it - then I will need another book fix. I always get quite restless when I finish a good book. I devour the book like a bar of Galaxy then feel bereft.

Sad and predictable for a politician (ultra-orthodox according to Beeb)
Clearly he has nothing better to do
I have good old fashioned British flu at the moment (no insult intended) - well actually probably just a rotten cold!

And of course the Homeopaths... http://www.helios.co.uk/swine_flu.html ...who although they do not "have a nosode" for swine flu as yet because they haven't got hold of any of the "disease material" yet (my mind boggles). But they do recommend some preventative measures (not the ones one would expec...

Just checked out the British Chiropractic Association website and they do style themselves Doctor.
Also scanned through the Chiropractor Act 1994 http://www.opsi.gov.uk/ACTS/acts1994/pd ... 017_en.pdf- no mention of them calling themsleves Dr or not in there
