Jovo's.

I've just upset a couple of jehovah's witnesses at the door. All I did was ask if it was a religious thing they wanted to talk about, when they told me it was, I showed them the book I was reading (How to be a good Atheist - Nick Harding). One of them said " but you don't believe it do you?&quo...

Yep, we know nothing much yet, perhaps we never will. Maybe it's all controlled by a giant invisible bogey man in the sky! :laughter:

Re: Mummy, can I have a toy gun?

I had my share of toy guns as a kid, I then progressed to airguns which I still occasionally use for targets. I've shot all over the country in competition and met some of the best people I know through them, they're generally the most down to earth bunch you could imagine. On the other hand, I've h...

Re: Scouts.

Thanks for that Alan C. I did a quick search before posting but obviously I didn't search hard enough!
It made me think as I was considering helping out at the Brownies when my daughter went there, I don't know if the same rules apply to them but she left anyway as it bored her too much! :D

Scouts.

I don't know if this has been mentioned before, but I recently read that Atheists can't join the scouts. From what I can work out, that may be the case in America but over here it seems you're just not allowed to help out or be a leader. From the background to be considered by the Appointments sub-c...

I came across that anti-humanism guy some time ago and dismissed him as bonkers.

Thanks for that, it'll be done directly! :)

I'm not sure where it's based, I found it from a link on Facebook searching for Humanist groups. There's a few Anti-Humanist ones on there!

Re: Religious people are stupid...

Maybe there are different types of intelligence? I used to work with someone who screwed up the stock taking in the warehouse by counting all the part empty boxes as full ones yet he was the towns chess champion and a member of mensa http://www.mensa.org.uk/ . He was supposedly a very intelligent ma...

I like "Eat well, Shit hard"!
I've been told it's a Catalonian phrase but I'm not sure, definately beats the usual "thank the lord" rubbish though! :laughter:

Re: What do you make of this?

Stop screwing around and start thinking seriously about killing all those but our most valuable members of society. We don't need movie actresses, we don't need democratic politicians, we don't need people with IQs of under 120. We need smart, strong, capable people who can think outside the mental...

Just found this : http://www.antihumanism.com/

Re: Fibromyalgia.

It seems to be the opposite with lots of doctors, they deny FM exists even though it's now recognised worldwide. Of course everyone gets aches and pains but there are so many other symptoms involved (which is why they don't understand it well yet). The lack of sleep and still feeling tired even if y...

Fibromyalgia.

Out of interest, does anyone have/know of anyone with fibromyalgia? http://www.fibromyalgia-associationuk.org/content/view/223/203/ I'm asking because I've recently heard of it and it would explain a lot of health problems over the last 15 or so years that the doctors couldn't. Unfortunately, I seem...

I've often wondered if it was a sort of sub concious thing but it was in an area where I was unfamiliar with the mains layout, which weren't in an obvious place either.
Still a mystery to me!

Dowsers.

I've just been looking at the UK Skeptics http://www.skeptics.org.uk/index.php website and found the bit mentioning dowsers here : http://www.skeptics.org.uk/article.php?dir=articles&article=skeptics_are_disbelievers.php Now I'd always thought dowsing to be a stupid idea until a few years ago wh...

Re: Will Time Travel Ever Be Possible?

I might not be that bright but, apart from travelling through time as it happens, I don't see how we could travel to the future. If it hasn't happened yet it's not there. Also if we were to travel back in time then now would be the future and therefore not have happened yet, so we wouldn't have been...

Re: Chain letters/emails, grrr!

You should never reply to unsolicited e-mails. As soon as you do, the spammers know your e-mail account is active and you will receive a ton of junk in your inbox. Just delete all junk e-mails without opening/reading them. I learnt that the hard way a long time ago! It pays to learn how to set your...
