Re: Show us your evidence, your eminence
Well done for challenging the bishop, lifelinking. I'm not in the least surprised by their response. All of the "research" they've presented to you comes from right-wing anti-gay religious organisations. Very dodgy stuff.

Re: we are a Christian country
To be fair to Cameron, I think there is a difference between being a hardcore evangelical Christian right-wing nutcase and being a "vaguely practising Church of England Christian". The latter are not necessarily so unpalatable, in my view.

I'm sad to hear he's passed away. He had a brilliant, brilliant mind. What a shame he's died so young. Think what he might have achieved with a few more decades?

Re: Gove wants to send a bible to every school in England
Whether you are a Christian or not, the King James Bible is a very influential work and has done much to influence our literature and language. On an academic/literary level, I would say there is a very good argument for giving kids access to it.

Convicted child abuse priest blogging from jail
http://catholicinternetwatch.blogspot.com/2011/11/convicted-child-abuse-priest-blogs-his.html In 1994, Father Gordon MacRae was convicted of sexually molesting boys and sentenced to 33+ years in prison. Now, with the help of supporters, he is running an internet campaign accusing his victims of lyin...

Re: Should protests outside abortion clinics be allowed?
Having had the same experience as David on engaging with religious "pro-lifers" on this issue (particularly American ones) I share his concerns. They don't seem to have any concept of the privacy of the woman who is going into the clinic. There is a time and a place for campaigning against abortion,...

Re: Catholic parents demand 'Vicar of Dibley' ban
The weird thing is that the vicar in that series is a very loveable and positively portrayed woman. If every vicar was like the Dawn French character then congegations would be a lot bigger!

It is truly dreadful that this is still so common in some parts of the world, isn't it? :( I am going to add my signature too.
