Yep, still here too. And everybody else apparently are atheists, because it's still just as crowded at the supermarket... Hehehe..

Re: So long and thanks for all the fish.

I heard that it has been postponed till October. Only the good ones go to heaven tomorrow and all of us dopes have to suffer through months of mayhem on earth before roasting in hell in the autumn.. Oh well, that's the life of an atheist.. :-D

Re: Do animals have rights?

As with anything to do with ethics, there are no absolutes in the treatment of animals or the question of abortion. As a western woman with enough resources to choose a vegetarian lifestyle I feel it is wrong for me to slaughter animals. I would probably quite willingly slaughter a baby seal if I ha...

Re: Capital Punishment

Hi there! I think it is possible to feel both the need for punishment for the action but compassion (which is similar to empathy) for the person committing the crime. This of course is me speaking from a pretty rational place. I don't know if I could still feel compassion for the person who had hurt...

Re: Osama Bin Laden

I agree Dave, that everyone being fair game, is in no way understandable. I wonder if the inflexibility in thinking in fundamentalist groups makes them see everything in black and white and if bringing any kind of nuance in this situation will ever be possible.

Re: Osama Bin Laden

I don't think any of us will ever really know what was wise to do in this situation. I would have preferred to see the man brought to court. Although I'm not sure what that would have done with the safety of many people, since a martyr in detention is more dangerous than a dead martyr, probably. Alt...

Re:

Very nice explanation! I think humanist covers it for me too, but I also think the existence of a god is very unlikely, so I wouldn't leave out atheist.. John Catt, on the BHA forum, came up with a very good response to just this sort of question, which I twisted to suit my own world view: I’m agnos...
