Re: This Weekend
Special royal car often does not carry number plates. I remember Morecambe and Wise as traffic wardens and Eric trying to book the chauffeur.

does anyone else agree with me that we should stop building the high speed train and use the money to build reservoirs to solve the drought/flooding problems?

Re: The Geek Manifesto
I picked this book up in Waterstones tody and the man standing next to me reached for a copy and said "they have soon got this out, will another election change it?" Seems lots of us have mis=read the title. ( I did not buy it, my budget for payday already spent)

Thanks Alan I did a google thingy but nothing came up unless I did not look far enough. Thanks for the link I have ordered the copy from Amazon. I don't mind using Amazon for hard to get books, although I usually use Yeadons in Elgin or Waterstones.

Does anyone remember a man by the name of Alan Lewis who used to write puns. I had a book of them but it is long gone. To jog memories here are two of his.
"Continental quilts are all very well but duvet keep you warm" and
"I have had this cough for 7 days now, it is just a wee old."

Re: Fairtrade
Alan C when I arrived in Kyle of Lochalsh two weeks ago I was told to wait until I had crossed the (toll free) bridge to Skye to fill up with petrol because it was 5p a litre cheaper due to being subsidised. I can confirm that it was indeed cheaper but how doe this accord with Shetland? Are you not ...

I used to find that if I exercised my free will and did not walk my two Old English Sheepdogs, they used to shit on the kitchen floor.

Re: Socialist Humanism
Dave b, I like the idea of putting serious books on kindle in case one is hospitalised but in my experience heavy going books will not be read or enjoyed. I find it is much too hard to concentrate unless in a single bed ward. Like food, reading material needs to be 'little and often' for me in a bus...

Can anyone help? my son-in-law had an operation to remove a cancer from his tongue on the 11th April. He must not eat anything spicy for quite a while. Can anyone suggest something to 'spice' his meals up that won't hurt his tongue/scar.?

Ssigned but don't ask me to boycott Avon their 'skin so soft' really does repel midges. The local shops on the West coast sell it by the shed load.

Re: Food and drink
It sounds revolting to me. I will stick to Scotch when I am not on the wagon, which I am at present having been allowed to drink whilst on holiday on Skye. I do not like the West coast malts though and prefer The MacAllan above all others. Nor do I go with the premise that red meats means red wine e...

Re: The Big Question - Is God a woman?
if there was a god i would have to believe he was a man because no woman would impose the stupid painful system of reproduction on females. at least she would allow us to switch off once we had all the children we wanted, not still have another 20 years of periods, followed by the menopause, then af...

It was definitely the same woman and I think the same venue. She kept going on about the memory that the water retained and the ultimate dilutions that would work best. I particularly remember her gestures with the hands and arms invitiing the audiance to agree that they were with her.

I can't keep away. Just to point out that selling a house in Peckham and moving to Achiltibui is a very good idea.
