Repatriation

If you died whilst abroad, would you want your body to be repatriated? If a loved one died would you want their body to be repatriated? (Morbid question, but I am quite morbid!) I just thought about it because I was discussing travel insurance with my family today, and my Grandma was saying she did ...

Re: Have you ever?

The title of this thread did make me think it was going to be some kind of game asking if people had participated in unusual activities. What sort of 'unusual activities' did you have in mind? I don't know, probably mildly controversial as it sounds like on of those drinking games (not that I've pl...

Re: Venting about traditional weddings

At my very catholic brother's wedding a few years back, the priest felt a need to comment on the sanctity of marriage having been degraded by the inclusion of gay and lesbian couples. There it was, prejudice, right there in the middle of his wedding. X That's outrageous not that he held those views...

Re: Abortion

I agree that what anyone making decisions about an unwanted/unplanned pregnancy is support in making the best decision. Befriending women who want to go through with a pregnancy but lack support is commendable, but is the support going to last as long as they want it? They might want/need support un...

Re: Killing time

I ticked window shopping, because I don't think I could spend an hour in a bookshop or library. I might go to a park, but would be more likely to explore a new park than one I was familiar with.

Re: A post concerning both religion and secularism

The John Barrowman thing was quite interesting, although I don't really think I learnt anything new. I think what was particularly significant was when he interviewed a man who claimed to be an "ex-gay" This man had been openly and actively gay for about 17 years or something, before deciding it was...

I've seen Mamma Mia twice now. It's brilliant. Very silly, but great fun. But Pierce Brosnan is not a good singer.

I agree, but she could probably get round that one by arguing that that was a mistake when she was young, and she's since found God, or repented or something.

Re: BHA appalled by judgement in Registrar’s Employment Tribunal

And if you're an atheist, why work in a religious school? Because you want to teach, and by only teaching in non religious schools you significantly reduce the number of jobs available for you, and because your religious beliefs (in theory) should not be relevant to a teaching job. I don't think th...

Re: What's the difference?

I do think there is a big difference between abortion and civil partnerships. I think abortion is morally grey, whereas to me there is no good argument against civil partnerships (other than arguments against any kind of legal commitment between people of same or opposite sex, or arguments that a ga...

Re: Selling second hand items

We've got rid of quite a few things on freecycle. TVs, DVDs, icecream maker a wardrobe and a plant stand. The people collect, so all you have to do is agree a mutually convenient time. I'm convinced the people who took the electrical items were going to sell them, but we don't really care, as we cou...

I agree it's an awful title, but I love the unintentional irony! (assuming by "smart" they mean "clever")
