The Spirituality Intelligence Test

#1 Post by Maria Mac » May 5th, 2008, 7:02 pm

For those who can't resist such things, it is here.

It was apparently devised by Mark Vernon, who I generally have time for (watch out for his book 'Teach yourself Humanism', due out in July) and it only takes a couple of minutes. It's not great but it's not total crap, either. I liked most of the comments on my answers.

I scored 68 out of 100

I got 66/100. I had trouble choosing an answer from among the three invalid choices in some questions. I also think Mark has a well-read layman's concept of science. As such, he sometimes misinterprets the quotations on which he bases his evaluations and at times jumps to unjustified conclusions.

I agree that it's not complete offal, but I don't feel it's very meaningful or accurate either.

You scored 78/100 - but take little notice of that.
Too high means too much hubris. Too low means lots of humility!

Yes, I recall he described evolution as being about the origin of life in one question and there was a really silly one about who is the most religious.

I got 72/100 - and found the questions quite interesting and thought provoking. But there does seem to be a value judgment to hubris and humility: do you think the questionnaire intended that?

80/100, but I got annoyed by several of the questions that seemed to have more than one 'correct' answer. Also, when I clicked on finish, I wasn't absolutely sure if the answers given were the ones I chose or the right ones!

There are three fundamental questions for anyone advocating Brexit:

1. What, precisely, are the significant and tangible benefits of leaving the EU?
2. What damage to the UK and its citizens is an acceptable price to pay for those benefits?
3. Which ruling of the ECJ is most persuasive of the need to leave its jurisdiction?

72/100
Which of these vices is the most debilitating in spiritual practice?

(a) Boredom.
(b) Distraction.
(c) Ill-discipline.
This is one that I didn't get. What is 'spiritual practice' to an atheist?

That was certainly one for which I just clicked an answer at random.

I got the exact same score! I think it could mean something like meditation or marvelling at the wonders of the universe.
