U.S. Presidential Primaries

#1 Post by Lon » May 5th, 2016, 7:59 pm

The recent religious pronouncements made by all the candidates really irritated me, as well as their attempts to out Christianize their opponents. The chances of a Free Thinker ever getting elected to even Dog Catcher in the U.S. is just not gonna happen, unfortunately.

It does seem - from this side of the pond anyway - that the US increasingly kowtows to religion and that one of the entry requirements to the Republican party is not just a Christian faith, but a pretty evangelical one at that. As you say, that doesn't make it a good place for freethinkers...

There are three fundamental questions for anyone advocating Brexit:

1. What, precisely, are the significant and tangible benefits of leaving the EU?
2. What damage to the UK and its citizens is an acceptable price to pay for those benefits?
3. Which ruling of the ECJ is most persuasive of the need to leave its jurisdiction?
