LONDON: Around 230,000 foreign nationals were granted National Insurance Numbers in just 1 year.

This is unsustainable. It's piling more pressure on London's already overstretched infrastructure.

Why is it unsustainable, coffee?
Alan Henness

There are three fundamental questions for anyone advocating Brexit:

1. What, precisely, are the significant and tangible benefits of leaving the EU?
2. What damage to the UK and its citizens is an acceptable price to pay for those benefits?
3. Which ruling of the ECJ is most persuasive of the need to leave its jurisdiction?

So let's all spend yet more money and time creating something that is exactly the same as the thing we already have and are giving up for no good reason whatsoever.

Oh! But blue passports!

But is Big Ben going to be the next big Brexiter crusade?

note the last sentence: "Without a replacement treaty for the EAW, the UK will fall back on 1956 rules for extradition which are more cumbersome and far slower. But even the replacement will increase the risk of foreign criminals escaping British justice." We live in strange times!

this is what passes for an answer to you, Alan. Coffee just has a hangup about EU immigration - for all I know, a reasonable one. But coffee. does it not bother you that the result oF Brexit may be a larger number of immigrants from outside the EU? Coffee, why do you call yourselF coffee?

Hi coffee. Do you think this student should be allowed to stay in the UK? Glasgow 2014 baton holder faces deportation
A student nurse who served in the Scottish Youth Parliament and carried the Queen's Commonwealth Games baton is facing deportation.

Denzel Darku, 23, moved to the UK from Ghana nine years ago but is fighting to stay in Scotland having seen two appeals rejected.

The former Paisley Grammar School pupil said: "It has been upsetting because I have nothing in Ghana."

A Home Office spokesman said every case is assessed "on its individual merits".

Mr Darku said UK officials have told him has not been able to prove he is dependent on his father, who is a European citizen, since he is over 21.

Mr Darku told the Sunday Mail he has been forced to drop out of his degree studies at Stirling University while he goes through the appeals process.

He said: "When I first arrived in Scotland to live with my dad, it was not easy.

"There were not many black faces at school and I worked hard to fit in.

typically silly Leave stuff. There is no guarantee that Britain will have left by the time these elections come round, so the Commission (where is the evidence that it is biased?) is sensibly planning for the contingency that we are still in.

Alan, something a bit more important. On last night's Sky News's Press Review, the Mirror journalist Susie Boniface (who is usually very sensible) claimed that Northern Ireland should follow the Republic in legalising abortion. I agree in principle of course, but her reason was that the interim agreement on Brexit included the Province following the rest of Ireland over relevant legislation etc. But surely this was meant to refer to commercial regulation, not to something like abortion? As Nick correctly pointed out the other week, the two parts of Ireland have many different laws and will remain in this position. I'm confused! What do you think?

Brussels sees its best interest in doing us harm. So no deal was always better than ANY deal. And that will not change, writes the former head of MI6 Sir Richard Dearlove and Gwythian Prins

We are in a much stronger position than both the EU and the Remainers would have the world believe: we have a massive trade deficit with the EU (they need us at least as much as we need them in that regard) and more than ever they need our cash

just look at these two Brexit Central claims. One is that the EU wants to harm Britain, the other says that the EU needs Britain at least as much as vice versa. Now, is there not a bit of contradiction here?

I think the problem is that Brexiters have no conception of the word 'plan', never mind 'contingency'...

I don't know - wasn't aware of that. It surely just a matter of time now before NI follows suit on abortion: they won't have to go across the Irish Sea, just across the border. Until there are border checkpoints, of course...

surely the point is that free movement of individuals, like women seeking abortions, is a different matter from mass transport of goods. Though of course the women might cross the border with more than a foetus...
