Well done Philae
Well done Philae
Despite a few hitches this is one hell of an achievement.

What is amazing is that it's using technology that must be 15 to 20 years old.

There are three fundamental questions for anyone advocating Brexit:
1. What, precisely, are the significant and tangible benefits of leaving the EU?
2. What damage to the UK and its citizens is an acceptable price to pay for those benefits?
3. Which ruling of the ECJ is most persuasive of the need to leave its jurisdiction?

The worry is that the 'anchors' didn't fire; so it may be upside down
Re: Well done Philae
What is also amazing is the maths etc. that had to be spot on over all those millions of miles and all those years!
Hadn't seen that Philae might be upside down.

Well done indeed ESA. I heard it likened to throwing a hammer in London to hit a nail in Delhi.

It seems it might have bounced... hoping for happy second landing.

Re: Well done Philae
I just cannot get my head round the ability of engineers and physicists to get an object the size of a friidge to meet up with a small object, 500million miles away and travelling at tens of thousands of miles per hour and actually land on it. It's mind bending!
I suspect it's not real. All done in a studio somewhere to fool the public into being proud to be European and vote to stay in the EU.
Yes, that must be it. A German plot.

Re: Well done Philae
It was discussed on Jeremy Vine's BBC Radio 2 show this morning (I only listened to it briefly - it's never good for my blood pressure). Anyway, he said he just didn't understand why, travelling so fast, it didn't just burn up.
I despair at the level of scientific illiteracy.
