Design and technology goodies

Just a place to put those design and technology items that made an impression on you . . .

First offering, the curly bridge - I think it is art, design and technology all rolled together.

Or, if you prefer the manual version:

It was even more impressive seeing the girl open it so quickly and easily!

Very clever, but I've seen so many objects that attempt to meld art, design and technology and fail miserably. Some may look OK, but frequently seem to forget or throw out the necessary functionality for the sake of the art or technology, becoming useless. If I come across an example, I'll try to remember to post it here.

There are three fundamental questions for anyone advocating Brexit:

1. What, precisely, are the significant and tangible benefits of leaving the EU?
2. What damage to the UK and its citizens is an acceptable price to pay for those benefits?
3. Which ruling of the ECJ is most persuasive of the need to leave its jurisdiction?

Not yet sure if this is a "goody" but it seems that a pizzeria in Mumbai has taken to delivering pizzas by drone

Seems the local law was not happy and I seem to remember that there is a law in this country against flying drones over built-up areas - so you don't need to watch out for drones carrying rival take-aways colliding and crashing to the ground just yet!

I've had a play with one of those things last year - enormous fun! Really agile and responsive - far easier to fly than a "normal" RC plane or 'copter. It had some nice touches, e.g. if the RC box loses power and stops transmitting, the quadcopter automagically returns to whence it launched, lands safely, then switches itself off. It carried a video cam that sends a live feed back to goggles that the operator could use ----- were it not for CAA regs that apparently demand that the operator of an RC plane must have sight of it at all times.

That sounds like one of the more expensive variety with GPS. Still, looks like a good toy, bet there are field archaeologists putting them on their xmas pressie list!
